A thumping victory to begin our #RFDevelopmentLeague campaign in style

The Reliance Foundation added another opportunity for the young talented Indian footballers, a chance that would help them grow and become better players - league and national team. The organisation decided to host a league that would be played by the youth squads of the existing teams that participated in the Hero ISL, to enhance their footballing abilities as well as provide the much-needed game time that the next generation of footballers have been missing out on. And that’s how the Reliance Foundation Development League came into existence with the aim of developing the youth players from all around the country by providing them a stage to showcase their skills and nurture bright prospects for the future of Indian football.

The Jamshedpur FC Youth team is one of the participating members from the 8 other teams, competing against the best youth squads of the country to battle for the top spot of the league table. This league is currently being held in the state of Goa and the Jamshedpur FC Youth team have begun their campaign on a positive note as they faced Mumbai City FC in their first game of the inaugural edition of the Reliance Foundation Development League.

Jamshedpur FC had their first fixture scheduled against the Islanders and the young lads of the Tata Football Academy kicked off their journey in the perfect manner as they managed to slip 3 goals past the opposition’s defence line while keeping a clean sheet at the same time.  In the 25th minute, Piush Thakuri scored the game's opening goal, deflecting a Keison Angelo corner into the net. As the Red Miners controlled possession and showed more prowess in the final third, Mumbai attempted hard to break the deadlock and get back into the game but were unable to score past Mohit Dhami and the solid Jamshedpur defence. The Islanders did get a golden opportunity to appear on the scoresheet but the one-on-one attempt was saved well by Jamshedpur goalkeeper,  Mohit Dhami, who was alert to the threat and blocked the ball away from the goal.

After a superb team play,  Meitei tapped in a Lalruatmawia cross into the goal with ease to extend the lead further for Jamshedpur in the second half.

In the 89th minute, Piush added a second goal to his name and a third for the Jamshedpur side. Piush finished a Lalruatmawia cross with a volley to round off a flawless opening game for the team.

With a dominating performance on the pitch and registering a 3-0 victory in their first clash, Jamshedpur FC Youth team took the lead at the top of the table with the winning points and the goal difference being in their favour. After making an impactful beginning to their campaign, Head Coach Indranil Chakraborty and his young team will face Chennaiyin FC on the 19th of April for their next game in the Reliance Foundation Development League.
