Daniel Lalhlimpuia Eyes New Dawn at Jamshedpur FC, Sets Sights on Durand Cup Glory

Jamshedpur, July 18: Jamshedpur FC’s newest forward, Daniel Lalhlimpuia, has hit the ground running in his first training sessions with the club, blending his trademark energy with a palpable sense of purpose as the team gears up for the historic Durand Cup.

The 27-year-old, a product of the AIFF Elite Academy, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Jamshedpur FC’s dressing room. Having captained India’s U-19 side and made his senior international debut at the age of 19, Daniel’s journey has seen him don the colours of Bengaluru FC, Punjab FC, Odisha FC, and Mumbai City FC. Now, as he steps onto the training turf in Jamshedpur, the spotlight is firmly on the Durand Cup.

“It means a great deal to me to have the opportunity to represent Jamshedpur FC in a historic tournament like the Durand Cup,” Daniel shared after an intensive team drill. “This competition has such a rich legacy, and for us as a team, it’s important to start the season on a positive note. We’re all eager and looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Arriving with a reputation as an excellent finisher and a tireless worker, Daniel wasted no time getting acquainted with his new teammates.

“So far, things have been going well, and personally, I’m focused on helping the team as much as possible in this tournament. Our preparations have been thorough, and we’re determined to give our best in every match.”

The forward also spoke about the high standards set during the opening days of pre-season. “Training has been excellent so far, oth physically and mentally, we feel ready,” he said. “It’s always motivating to have a coach who believes in you, and I want to make the most of this opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.”

Daniel, who has experienced the passion of Indian football fans firsthand, made a heartfelt appeal to supporters: “I’ve seen firsthand how passionate Jamshedpur supporters are in the stadium. Your energy truly makes a difference, so I urge all of you to come out and cheer for us. Your presence means everything to us as players.”

The Durand Cup will see Jamshedpur FC play all their group stage matches at home, with the first game scheduled for 24 July against Tribhuvan Army FT, then Indian Army FT on 29 July, and 1Ladakh FC on 8 August.
