#FCGJFC Opponent Watch: The squad has an intense clash ahead of them

The first game of the Men of Steel of the 2021-22 season did not go the way they had intended, after an intense clash with the Red and Gold Brigade ended in a draw, with both sides scoring a goal each.

Jamshedpur FC, are now looking forward to their second game of November as well as in the 2021-22 season as they play FC Goa in another away game at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. As the two sides gear up, here are some of the players in the opposition squad who could be a major threat to the Jamshedpur squad:

Dheeraj Singh

Dheeraj was a member of the Indian team who competed in the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which was held in India after which he gave a trial with the Scottish club, Motherwell FC, and then trained with AFC Bournemouth before making his way back to India to play in the Hero Indian Super League, in the 2018-19 season. Dheeraj joined FC Goa during the January transfer window after spending the first half of the 2020-21 season with ATK Mohun Bagan. Following his promotion to the first team, the shot-stopper gave an outstanding performance in the 2021 AFC Champions League, where he kept two clean sheets in five games and also joined the Indian team for the U-23 AFC qualifiers. Dheeraj is quick on his feet on the goal line and can make quick dives to parry the ball away to safety. Possessing quick reflexes, Dheeraj will be a tough challenge to get the ball through.

Jorge Ortiz

The Spaniard began his career as a child with Getafe CF before moving on to Atlético de Madrid B, and other Spanish teams in his early career. FC Goa got Ortiz to their club and the league, which was the first time the winger played outside of Spain. He was quick to make his presence felt in the league. After a fantastic season with the Gaurs, he even showed his quality striking by scoring in the AFC Champions League against Al Rayyan SC. Ortiz scored 6 goals in the previous season out of which 2 of them were against Jamshedpur FC, which makes Jorge Ortiz, the main target for the Jamshedpur defensive line-up as he has proven to be a threat when left unmarked, with his accurate finishing and ability to make quick runs to create scoring opportunities.

Alberto Noguera

Noguera has played for Atletico Madrid's B and C teams after which he made his senior team debut in 2012. Noguera has also played in England when he joined former English Championship team Blackpool FC. The midfielder joined FC Goa before the 2020-21 Hero ISL season and unleashed the experience he earned in the foreign leagues as he provided his teammates with 8 assists which won him the DHL Winning Pass of the League award. With 1054 successful passes, he was also one of top 5 players with the most number of passes in the league. Alberto is a big threat to the Jamshedpur FC defenders with his precision in providing through balls, switching sides and controlling the pace of the game when needed.

Ivan Gonzalez

A product of the Real Madrid academy, Ivan signed with FC Goa ahead of the 2020-21 Hero ISL season and made an instant impact for the team as he helped the Gaurs reach the semi-finals in his first season with the club, delivering 2 goals and an assist for the team. Gonzalez continued to show his quality for the club in the AFC Champions League the following season, playing a vital role in FC Goa's run in the international tournament. The Spaniard is a key element in the FC Goa line-up, with important roles in the defence as well as in the attacking strategies of the team. Ivan will be a tough man for the Jamshedpur attacking squad to beat; he could turn out to be fatal for them considering his ability to take the ball up the pitch and create counter-attacking build ups.
