First Interview: César Ferrando
Spanish coach César Ferrando put pen to paper with Jamshedpur Football Club to mentor as a Head Coach for the 2018-19 season. The 58-year-old comes with a lot of pedigree having played for Valencia (1981-84) and with coaching experience as the Head Coach of Atlético Madrid in 2004-05. Here’s his first words as the Head Coach of the Tata Group franchise:
On his aims and targets…
Our main objective will be to give our best everyday at every training session and make the team compete at the highest level in every game we play. We will focus and prepare game by game as each game will be treated as a final with hard work, passion, sacrifice, effort, team work and humility.
On what would be success for him this season…
Success for me in this season will be play good football. We hope to implement a strong and unique football model to make the team more competitive in the league and make the supporters enjoy during the season. We would like to play for the fans and repay the faith entrusted in me, my players and my staff.
On how big this challenge is…
Very big, it is my second international appearance after one year in Malaysia and a large career in Spain. I’m very grateful and excited to take this opportunity and contribute to Jamshedpur FC with all my experience.
On the foreign recruitments waiting to happen...
We are working with the Sports Directors of the Club to incorporate a few quality international players to help the team grow and improve upon the results of the previous season. We need to build a strong team and we have to strengthen some positions and players because the season is very short and intense.
