First Interview: Laldinliana Renthlei

Laldinliana Renthlei is the newest acquisition and defender to join Jamshedpur FC for their ISL 2020-21 campaign. From making his switch from Chennaiyin FC to Jamshedpur FC to getting another opportunity to work with Owen Coyle, Dinliana is excited to kick-start this new journey. Here are a few excerpts from his first interview.

How big of a role did Owen Coyle play in signing with Jamshedpur FC

He played a major role in my decision to move to Jamshedpur FC. I have trained under him last season and I owe my performances to him. His motivation and faith in me have been my greatest source of strength and I am excited to have him as my coach once again.

Having played fantastically in the I-League and ISL, how do you plan to maintain your form for the upcoming season and years to come?

I have a simple mantra - eat, sleep, train, repeat. Of course, I know how easy it sounds but the fact is that this mantra also comes with a lot of sacrifices. However, I know I wouldn't change a thing. I will continue to follow it for as long as possible because, at the end of the day, I just want to give my best on the field, be it while training or playing a match. As Patrice Evra (former Defender, Manchester United) says, "I love this game."

What will be your main goal to achieve as a part of Jamshedpur FC?

Honestly, I just want to give my all for this club. I want to help Jamshedpur FC become the champions. My ultimate dream is to lift the ISL shield as well as the trophy. As a player, that is all I can hope to achieve.

You have been to Jamshedpur previously. How was the overall experience?

I love this city, primarily because it is a football-loving city. The people here love and enjoy this sport so passionately, they are so supportive and proud of this club. That itself makes me super excited to represent the club and the fans.

Your thoughts on joining Jamshedpur FC

All I know is that this club has a huge potential to be the best one in the country and I want to play a crucial part in helping them achieve it. It would be my honour.

Message for the fans

I will miss the fans so much this season. The upside is that I have signed a three-year deal with the club, so I have full faith that I will have some amazing and successful moments with the fans in the future.

Your thoughts on the current situation and the future of football going forward

Obviously, nobody could have even imagined something like this would happen. It is certainly not the way we all were planning to play the new season of the ISL. But, now the most important thing is to stay safe and follow the safety protocols established by the authorities. Once, when everything is back to normal, I truly hope that football will make an even bigger impact than before.
