“Honoured to have played under the best coaches in the ISL” – Anas Edathodika

Our defensive rock Anas Edathodika joined the squad for pre-season preparations in Thailand earlier this week. We caught up with him to have a chat about his early impressions of the team and much more. Here’s what transcribed during the interview:

On his first impressions of the Jamshedpur FC squad…
It's quite nice to with my new team. Some of them are new teammates and there are many with whom I have played before. Everyone is quite confident which is a good sign.

On a decent start to the pre-season…
It's still just the beginning. As a team we have done well. All the players have got a run in which is very important. We have started gelling and bonding well already which is the first and foremost objective.

On playing under legendary coaches in the ISL…
I have had the honour to play under some of the best coaches in Roberto Carlos, Gianluca Zambrotta and now Steve Coppell this season. Carlos had quite a different approach to football. In that way Zambrotta and our gaffer (Coppell) are quite similar. I have always maintained a good rapport with my coaches. The best thing about the gaffer is that he keeps everyone together and gives confidence.

On the upward trajectory of the Indian national team…
I am proud to be part of the national team and we have done very well recently. Our unbeaten streak is historic and getting so high in the, qualifying for the Asia Cup - it was totally down to team effort.
