After making some jaw-dropping saves and ensuring the ball stayed out of the net at the Jamshedpur FC end of the pitch, sealing a victory and the ‘Hero of the ‘Match’ award, TP Rehenesh talks about his thoughts after being back on the goal line for the club, on the team’s performance and his time so far at Jamshedpur FC.

On the hard-fought win against FC Goa last night...

I am happy to collect my first ‘Hero of the match’ award of this season and what a game it was indeed. According to me, there were 11 heroes on the field last night. I’ve no words to describe how proud I am of the lads for not giving in to the circumstances and not letting this difficult time take over us and our spirit. As we know, stepping back up to the pitch after such a long gap without proper training, and those tough days in quarantine, made it difficult for us to be able to perform at our very best in a match of such importance.

Thoughts while you made those stunning saves to get the big win for Jamshedpur…

Such times on the pitch are always difficult.  Of course, my mind is always racing during such situations, especially when we were leading with just one goal against such a strong side. So for the entire duration of the match, I was just focused on guiding our players well at the back and kept myself alert on the goal line to secure the winning points for the team.

On your growth as a player and an individual being in the club for almost 2 years…

There are still a lot of improvements to be made, but I’m happy about how things are panning out for us so far. We really have a strong chance to make it to the playoffs this season and go on to create history for the club.  I really hope we make it to those top spots at the end of the season. Since day one, I’ve felt very welcomed at the club and I’m very happy to be part of the Jamshedpur family. I would like to thank our Head Coach, Owen Coyle, for bringing me to this club and guiding me through every small detail by always being very supportive and vocal. Of course, I would like to thank the rest of the coaching staff and fans as well who have always given me so much love and support throughout my time at the club. They always made sure to make me feel special and happy. That's exactly what keeps the entire squad hungry to win which in turn helps us give our 100% on the field for the desired results.
