Jamshedpur FC host a Grassroot Festival at Dayawati Modi Public School, Chandil

Jamshedpur FC held a grassroots football festival at Dayawati Modi Public School, Chandil. The festival received a tremendous response with more than 370 young children taking part in the fun activities and drills planned by the team of 35 coaches from TSRDS team, Kundan Chandra, Head - Grassroots, Carlos Santamarina, Head – Youth Development and Arshad Hussain, Head Coach – Grassroot Teams which helped in the success of the event. The event was filled with an abundance of young smiling faces all around. The team of 55 volunteers from the school ensured the event ran in a smooth and efficient manner.

Mr. Carlos Santamarina, Head – Youth Development, emphasised on the importance of grassroots level training, “Grassroots is very important. We are trying to show the method of our practice with these children. They are very young, around 3 to 12 years old, and we want to start working with them step by step. It’s a long journey to become a professional football player and we firstly need to teach them things about coordination, agility, balance and body positioning.”

The Principal of Dayawati Modi Public School, Shampa Banerjee, was thrilled to host Jamshedpur FC and expressed her feelings on the festival, “The way Jamshedpur FC were training the students who were volunteers, the way they were training the small children, I was just mesmerised. I feel it is very important because 90% of the development in a child starts from a very tender age. Children of this age group have high energy levels and it is very important to channelise this energy in a positive way and through grassroots I feel that the energy will be channelised in the best way.”
