Jamshedpur FC Reserves edge Chennaiyin FC Reserves in a 5-goal thriller
The Jamshedpur FC Reserves squad snatched their first win of the 2nd Division I-League 2017-18 as they beat Chennaiyin FC Reserves 3-2 at The Furnace. A brace from Gourav Mukhi and a goal from Gorachand sealed the win despite pressure from the away team in the final few minutes.
The hosts started the match directly on 5th gear as Gorachand scored from a throw in sent by Raisen Hansda in the early minutes of them. Jamshedpur FC maintained the pressure but Chennaiyin levelled scores against the run of play as Bedashwor Singh equalized for them.
The goal provided the away team some momentum which saw them winning a penalty in the 35th minute. Chennaiyin’s Baoringdao Bodo stepped up to take the penalty but couldn’t convert as an expert save from Harpreet Singh kept the scores level.
The drama didn’t end there in the first half as Jamshedpur’s Gourav Mukhi found the net in the 37th minute. The Reserves took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Gourav scored again in the 60th minute to the joy of the 6000+ fans at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Chennaiyin pulled one back soon enough with B. Rohmingthanga making the score 3-2. The final quarter of the match proved to be a nervy affair but Hilal Parray’s men saw it out to win their first match of the season.
