Jamshedpur FC Reserves suffered a 2-1 defeat yesterday at the hands of Chawnpui FC in their inaugural LG Independence Cup match. For Jamshedpur, Billu Teli got on the scoresheet in the 16th minute as he calmly slotted home a penalty.

But it was not enough to secure a win over the Mizoram side as the Jamshedpur reserves began their Group B expedition with a disappointing start. Jerry Mawia, Jamshedpur FC's star winger, was in attendance for the game with his family to cheer on the youngsters.

The reserves will now play their next group game against Kanan FC on August 3.
