Jamshedpur FC sign Defender Jestin George Ahead of Durand Cup

Jamshedpur, July 19: Jamshedpur FC have added steel to their defence with the signing of Jestin George ahead of the 2025 Durand Cup. The Kerala-born defensive midfielder brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the Durand Cup and I-League.

Jestin rose through the ranks of Bengaluru FC’s reserve side before making a name for himself at Gokulam Kerala FC. His commanding presence in the back was instrumental in Gokulam’s historic Durand Cup triumph in 2019 and their I-League title win in the 2020-21 season. He later turned out for NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League and had stints with Real Kashmir FC and Bengaluru United FC.

“It feels great to be back in the Durand Cup, especially with a club like Jamshedpur FC. This tournament means a lot to me personally. I’ve experienced the joy of winning it with Gokulam, and I know how tough it is to go all the way,” he said.

Jestin also expressed his excitement about working with head coach Khalid Jamil, under whom several Indian players have flourished. “Training under Khalid sir is something I’ve been looking forward to. He’s someone who brings the best out of Indian players and gives you the confidence to express yourself on the pitch. I’m here to give everything I have and make an impact.”

Jestin joins a Jamshedpur FC squad that has been rebuilt with a mix of experienced professionals and promising youngsters, aiming to make a strong run in the Durand Cup, one of the oldest football tournaments in the world.

The Durand Cup will see Jamshedpur FC play all their group stage matches at home, with the first game scheduled for 24 July against Tribhuvan Army FT, then Indian Army FT on 29 July, and 1Ladakh FC on 8 August.
