Jamshedpur FC Sign Off Season with a Draw Against Odisha FC
Jamshedpur, May 21: Jamshedpur FC’s hopes of ending the season with a victory and keeping their title dreams alive came to a frustrating end as the Men of Steel were held to a 0-0 draw by Odisha FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday evening.
Despite controlling possession and creating a host of chances throughout the match, Jamshedpur FC were unable to find the breakthrough as they finished the league campaign in fifth place with 22 points.
Backed by a vocal Furnace crowd, the Men of Steel started brightly and dominated the opening exchanges. Jamshedpur FC repeatedly pushed forward in the first ten minutes, with Sanan Mohammed and Messi Bouli causing problems for the Odisha defence with their movement and pace.
The pressure continued to build as chances began to arrive in waves for the hosts. Around the half-hour mark, Sanan and Messi Bouli combined well in attack, but the finishing touch continued to elude the Men of Steel.
Jamshedpur FC came agonisingly close in the 37th minute when Madih Talal delivered a dangerous free-kick into the box. With the ball falling invitingly inside the area, Sanan looked certain to score, but the final touch could not be controlled.
Just before halftime, Lallianzuala Chhangte tried his luck from long range with a powerful effort that seemed destined for the top corner, only for the Odisha goalkeeper to produce an outstanding flying save.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Jamshedpur FC continuing to push aggressively in search of the winning goal. Messi Bouli and Sanan both went close midway through the half, but their efforts drifted wide despite promising build-up play.
In the 80th minute, Rei nearly produced a moment of brilliance when he unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box that missed the target by inches, leaving the home crowd stunned.
Despite relentless attacking pressure and territorial dominance, the decisive breakthrough never arrived for the Men of Steel as Odisha FC held firm until the final whistle.
The draw ultimately brought an end to Jamshedpur FC’s title hopes, with Owen Coyle’s side concluding the campaign in fifth position. However, the Men of Steel once again showed their fighting spirit and attacking intent in front of their home supporters, who continued to back the team passionately until the very end.
