Jamshedpur FC Suffer Narrow Defeat Away at Odisha

Bhubaneswar, September 28: Jamshedpur FC suffered their first defeat of the Indian Super League 2024-25 campaign, going down 1-2 to Odisha FC in a closely-fought match here on Saturday.
Odisha FC had the upper hand in the first half, taking a two-goal lead through strikes from Diego Mauricio and Mourtada Fall. However, Jamshedpur were much improved side in the second half, scoring a goal and also coming close to equalizer several times.
Jamshedpur FC would have opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the match, but were unlucky as Javi Hernandez’s powerful shot rattled the post and bounced back. However, it was the home side that scored the opener when Diego Mauricio's shot took a slight deflection off Stephen Eze and found the back of the net. In the 42nd minute, an unmarked Fall headed in the second goal from a corner.
Jamshedpur FC started the second half brightly and poised to replicate their comeback victories from the past two matches after an own goal by Fall gave momentum to the visitors.
After that, Javi Hernandez had the best try on goal as he attempted a spectacular overhead kick from a corner, but his shot narrowly missed the target.
From then on, Jamshedpur had several chances, with Sanan, Javi, and Aniket Jadhav all trying their luck, but Odisha held firm to register their first victory and handing over JFC their first loss in the season.
