Jamshedpur FC thrash Bengaluru FC 5 - 1 at the Furnace

Carnage. Absolute Carnage. What ensued at the Furnace tonight was nothing short of unbelievable! Going a goal down rather shockingly then making a comeback of all comebacks in the second half, Jamshedpur FC registered their biggest win in the Indian Super League with a 5 - 1 onslaught of none other than Bengaluru FC.

Playing their final game of the season, Cesar Ferrando brought Michael Soosairaj and Jerry Mawia back in to the starting eleven whereas Pablo Morgado started up front for the hosts. Bengaluru FC made eight chances from their previous game and practically played their second string side against the home team.

Despite playing with their B team, Bengaluru FC started the match strongly and were rewarded for it with the opening goal in the 16th minute. A defensive lapse from Augustin Fernandes gifted the Blues a goal which was duly converted by Semboi Haokip.

Bengaluru FC had the chance to double their lead in the 25th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Xisco Hernandez stepped up to take the spot kick. Subrata Paul guessed his effort correctly and stopped the penalty brilliantly. Augustin then redeemed himself in the first half stoppage time as he pounced upon a goalkeeping error from Poirei and made matters level at the break.

When Jamshedpur FC took the field for the second half, they looked like a side possessed. Passes were finding its target, intent was clear and Bengaluru FC were looking under pressure. From the 54th minute until the 61st minute, what followed was unprecedented!

The hosts took charge of the situation and slammed four goals past their opponents in the matter of seven minutes. First, Michael Soosairaj cut inside from the left, beat his man, and slalomed his effort into the top corner. Then, Pablo Morgado got onto the end of a Carlos Calvo cross to make it three on the night.

A minute later, Jamshedpur FC produced a scintillating counter-attacking move to rip through the Blues' defence. Calvo found Jerry on the right who then spotted Morgado in the box. The Spaniard rounded off his man and scored his second of the night. Four minutes later, Morgado was fouled on the edge of the box.

Calvo stepped up and curled it past the wall and the goalkeeper to make it five on the night for Jamshedpur FC. The stadium went into delirium. No one could not believe what they had seen! A blitzkrieg that took apart Bengaluru FC and helped Jamshedpur FC to soften the blow of not making it into the playoffs this season.

Albeit coming against a weakened Bengaluru side, this victory, this rush of goals, this comeback, this end to what was an eventful season will be remembered for the days to come!
