Jamshedpur FC’s Brilliant Display against Zonal Champions NorthEast United FC Sees Them Edge Closer to National Championship with Third Straight Win

Mumbai, March 29: Jamshedpur FC produced a scintillating display of football to dismantle NorthEast United FC 5-2 in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) National Group Stage, taking a massive step toward National Championship qualification. Playing at the Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai, Jamshedpur FC asserted their dominance from the first whistle and maintained their unbeaten run with a commanding performance.

Jamshedpur FC started brightly, controlling possession and dictating the tempo. It didn’t take long for them to break the deadlock, as the in-form Bivan Jyoti Laskar opened the scoring in the 13th minute. The forward was perfectly positioned inside the box to convert a precise cross from the left by Remson Singh, giving Jamshedpur the lead.

Their attacking intent continued, and in the 29th minute, Lawmsangzuala was fouled just outside the box. Rohan Singh stepped up and curled in a sensational free-kick, leaving the NorthEast United goalkeeper helpless and doubling Jamshedpur’s advantage with a contender for the goal of the season.

NorthEast United FC, the North East Zonal champions, showed resilience after the break. Laishram Danny Meitei produced a moment of brilliance in the 53rd minute, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and delivering a stunning left-footed strike to make it 2-1. But under head coach Kaizad Ambapardiwalla’s guidance, Jamshedpur FC has been a team full of character and attacking flair. Instead of sitting back, they responded emphatically.

Lawmsangzuala, who has been a key figure throughout the campaign, restored Jamshedpur’s two-goal cushion in the 70th minute, capping off a well-worked move. The pressure on NorthEast United mounted further when Vumlenlal Hangshing inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 79th minute, pushing Jamshedpur FC into an unassailable lead.

Sairem Sital Singh put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute, converting from the penalty spot to make it 5-1. Though Danny Meitei struck again for NorthEast United late on, his effort was nothing more than a consolation.

With this emphatic victory, Jamshedpur FC remains at the top of Group A with three wins in three matches, taking a significant step toward the National Championship. They now look ahead to their next group fixture against FC Goa on April 1st.
