Jamshedpur Super League, India’s Longest and Largest Grassroots Football Festival, Kicks Off at JRD Tata Sports Complex
Jamshedpur, November 16: India’s biggest grassroots football celebration, the Jamshedpur Super League, officially kickstarted today at the JRD Tata Sports Complex Artificial Turf, marking the beginning of yet another vibrant season of community-driven football in the city.
Eight matches were held on inaugural day with sixteen teams participating in various categories. Matches were held in Under-5, Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories.
Rebranded by Jamshedpur FC from the All India Football Federation’s Blue Cubs League framework, the Jamshedpur Super League has grown into the country’s longest and largest grassroots festival. The initiative follows AIFF’s model of small-sided, age-appropriate formats that maximise touches, learning, and enjoyment while ensuring inclusive participation across all sections of society.
This year’s edition has expanded massively, featuring 190 teams, 1,187 grassroots children, and 888 players across community groups including mothers, fathers, coaches, girls, veterans, and transgender participants. The league will run over six months, continuing to strengthen Jamshedpur’s reputation as one of India’s most active football nurseries.
With a record-breaking rise in participation and an inclusive structure that welcomes players of all ages and backgrounds, the Jamshedpur Super League continues to redefine what grassroots football can achieve in India. The festival will continue in the months ahead with league matches, community activities, and development-focused sessions aimed at nurturing the next generation of footballers.
