Jamshedpur FC

In a bid to further football development of young local players in the city, Jamshedpur FC held selections for the U9, U10 and U12 Advanced Training Programmes in July 2019 where 128 grassroots boys participated.

The boys were from the eight football schools of Jamshedpur located at various locations, namely, Mount Litera Zee School – Mango, Kerala Samajam Model School – Golmuri, RVS Academy – Dimna, DBMS Kadma High School, Loyola School – CH Area, Carmel junior College – Sonari, DAV Public School – Bistupur and Hill Top School – Telco.

After months of training with Jamshedpur FC’s specialized grassroots coaches, the students’ abilities were put to test on the basis of the A-B-C-D of grassroots football, where A stands for Agility, B for Balance, C for Co-ordination and D for Decision Making. 16 boys have been selected for Under-12, 17 boys for Under-10 and 26 boys for Under-9.

On finalizing the selection, Head of Grassroots, Mr. Kundan Chandra said, “The kids in our football schools have been following the curriculum set by the club and are being groomed into our philosophy.

“There were two objectives to hold selections for our Advanced Training Programme with these kids. One was to have the best boys from our Grassroots system be exposed to the best facilities and top notch coaching available with the guidance of our Jamshedpur FC and Tata Football Academy coaches.

“Second was to give the local players more exposure. There is a lot of raw talent in Jamshedpur and we want to tap and groom them.”

Jamshedpur FC Head of Youth Development Mr. Carlos Santamarina provided his input as he said, “This is like a stepping stone for us. We hope our guidance to the boys selected for the advanced training programme at such a young age can help in churning out some bright talent for our youth and first teams in the future.” 

Training for these age groups begin in the coming days. The boys will be given training twice a week over and above their usual grassroots training.
