Owen Coyle discusses all things Jamshedpur ahead of #NEUJFC
Head Coach Owen Coyle answered questions from the media ahead of the clash with NorthEast United. Excerpts from the press conference below:
On showing fighting spirit in the previous match against Mumbai...
I thought it was an outstanding performance from us. We would have loved to have played the entire match 11v11, we felt we could have gone on to win the game. The spirit and the quality we showed after being down to 10-men for 70 minutes shows that we are great as a group. We are a group of lads working hard everyday. We have a number of players unavailable to us (due to injuries). So, it's a great source of satisfaction to see how hard the group is working to try to gain points and wins. And we are moving in the right direction.
On how Aitor's suspension will affect the team selection and other team updates...
It's the same as Dinliana not being available (in the previous game due to suspension). David Grande, Joyner, Narender, Nick Fitzgerald the list (of injuries) is endless. But it's the boys we have that we have to focus on and whoever is asked to come in will do their job and wear the shirt with tremendous pride as a representative of our supporters in Jamshedpur.
On the qualities of the Northeast squad...
They have shown that they are a very good team, they are very hard-working. It's going to be a tough game, as they all are in the ISL. So they deserve enormous respect which they will get. It's a game we are looking forward to and if we are at our best, it's a game that we can win.
Gerard Nus is a young coach and he has fit in really well. The ISL has some fantastic coaches. NorthEast have started their season really well and all credit goes to them.
On how Jamshedpur plans to stop the likes of Sylla, Camara and Machado...
In terms of strategy, as I said, we will be very respectful of the opposition with respect to the qualities they have but our focus will be on Jamshedpur's performance, bringing in our game. Being aware of their threats and trying to nullify them, and equally make our players impose themselves in the game as we have. We are 5 games unbeaten and we want to continue that way and we want the 3 points in this game. But to do that, we need to put out best foot forward and give our maximum.
