#JFCCFC Player Battles

Two-time Indian Super League winners, Chennaiyin FC, will take the field at the Furnace against a Jamshedpur FC side that is yet to lose on home soil. The JRD Tata Sports Complex is in for a treat tonight when the teams fight it out for the three points.

With a new head coach (Owen Coyle) at the helm, the visitors will be looking to upturn their current form having won only one out of the six matches played, though the task at hand will certainly be far from easy for the Scotsman, taking into account Jamshedpur FC’s form in the ongoing ISL season, especially at home.

There are plenty of battles to look forward to in the fixture tonight. To name a few, below is a shortlist of combats that are bound to exceed all limits of competition.

Tiri vs Lucian Goian

This battle of the captains at the heart of their respective defence lines is fated to be a fierce one. Two towering defenders, equally passionate and committed, donning the skipper’s armband with pride - the defensive stalwarts have been nothing short of indispensable for their respective sides.

After penning a deal from Mumbai City FC to Chennaiyin FC this transfer window, Lucian Goian has been rock-solid at the back for the Marina Machans. While on the other hand, Tiri has been leading the Jamshedpur FC troops since signing with the club in 2017, in their debut season of the ISL.

The statistics speak volumes. This is a battle between two top-drawer players and tonight will be proof of the same!

Farukh Choudhary vs Lallianzuala Chhangte

A battle of young blood, a battle of two very potent and dynamic wingers with bursts of speed down the wing for their respective sides. Both possessing a vision to pick out skulls inside the 18-yard box with their pinpoint crosses, or even cut through and go all the way to finish the job themselves - the Indian youngsters have shown signs of promise in the ISL, and have continued to be in the spotlight for all the right reasons.

Being one of the standout players for Delhi Dynamos FC (now Odisha FC) last season, Lallianzuala Chhangte found himself on the score sheet on quite a few occasions for his former side. After putting pen to paper with Chennaiyin FC before the start of the 2019-20 edition of the ISL, the 22-year-old has proven his worth in the midfield for his team but is yet to find the back of the net.

Farukh, on the other hand, has consistently delivered ‘Hero of the Match’ performances since the start of the season. He has cemented his place in Antonio Iriondo’s starting eleven with a display of quality plays, in all six of the matches the Mumbai-born has played thus far.

CK Vineeth vs Thoi Singh

Facing his former team, all friendships will be forgotten for 90 minutes - when CK Vineeth steps on the field tonight. The 31-year-old played for Chennaiyin FC on loan (from Kerala Blasters FC) last season and managed to score three goals in his 16 ISL appearances for the Marina Machans. Returning from injury, Vineeth was given the nod for his Jamshedpur FC debut when the team traveled to Goa to face the Gaurs, and was involved in the victory at Fatorda.

CK Vineeth’s former teammate, Thoi Singh already has an assist under the belt in the five appearances he has made for Chennaiyin FC, this season. Bringing in experience and speed in the attack, Thoi registered four goals and an assist to his name last season and was arguably one of the standout players in the squad for the former titleholders last campaign.
