Steven Dias Confident as JFC Prepare for Durand Cup Quarterfinal

Jamshedpur, August 16: Jamshedpur FC’s Head Coach in Interim, Steven Dias, is embracing his new role with quiet confidence as the team gears up for their crucial Durand Cup 2025 quarterfinal clash against Diamond Harbour.

For Dias, the transition from Assistant Coach to Interim Head Coach has been seamless. “There’s no big difference in how we are working . The responsibility has changed, yes, but the commitment is the same. I’m happy and excited to give my best,” he said. Preparations, he added, have been going well, with the team fully aware of the challenge ahead. “Diamond Harbour are a very good side, but we are ready. I’m confident the team will perform well.”

Having shared both the playing field and the dugout with Khalid Jamil, Dias carries forward valuable lessons from his predecessor. “We played together at Air India and Mahindra, and I also played under him. His focus, work ethic, and leadership are unmatched. He thinks about football day and night. I’ve learnt a lot from him, and now I’m working hard to apply that in my role.”

Dias reserved special praise for the Jamshedpur FC fans, crediting their energy for the team’s unbeaten run in the group stage. “I’ve always believed football is nothing without fans. In our last three matches, we won because the players and coaches drew motivation from the way they cheered for us. I request all fans to come in large numbers again for the quarterfinal. We will give our best, and I’m sure they’ll enjoy the match.”

With three group-stage victories under their belt, Jamshedpur FC head into the quarterfinal at a critical juncture, looking to maintain momentum and push deeper into the competition. For Dias, it’s not just about the tactics on the pitch, but also about carrying forward the belief that has brought the team this far.
