Top 5 things to look forward to – Jamshedpur FC vs FC Goa

In a debut season that has featured applause and anxiety in equal measure, we have fought to reach within touching distance of the play-off stage in only our first season in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). The prospect of the play-offs is not just a possibility, it is a very achievable objective that our fans are would love for us to achieve.

With success within touching distance, it’s easy to see why our fans are looking forward to the game against FC Goa. However, we know there’s a lot more that Jamshedpur FC bring to every game they play, so without further ado we bring you the Top Five things we’re looking forward to from this game:

Jamshedpur FC are at 5th with 26 points and will need a whole 3 points to pull through to the next stage. FC Goa have a slight edge with their 4th place spot and 27 points, but no team can afford to go into a game with the intention of forcing a draw due to the unpredictability of the sport, and FC Goa will go all out for the 3 points at stake to avoid missing out.

The Memo-Wellington midfield connection – The positive effect Brazilian midfielder Wellington Priori has brought to Jamshedpur FC since his introduction to the squad in January 2018 is well known. The box-to-box midfield bulldog is relentless and is a goal-threat from distance, but his presence on the pitch has especially benefited his compatriot Memo. Memo thrives in pulling strings from deep and Wellington’s ability to regain and recycle possession ensures he can do his job with more freedom. The friendship the pair shares only adds to their amazing chemistry on the pitch.

The Furnace’s last newcomer – Jamshedpur FC’s debut season in the league has brought ISL football to the Jamshedpur, but it has also allowed ISL teams to experience the deep passion for the sport that resides in this city. The Red Miners bring a unique flair of their own to our haven and the people of Jamshedpur cheering from the stands could not have been more welcoming of this club. The noise from the stands has resonated with every club that has played here and we hope to play hosts to our fellow ISL competitors for many a season in the future.

Revenge on the menu? – The last game between Jamshedpur FC and FC Goa may have left a sour taste for a few of our fans due to the aggression on the pitch, and the home support will be thirsty for revenge now that The Gaurs are visiting Jamshedpur. There’s no doubt that there are a few scores to settle, but the added competition will only add to the intensity and importance of this high-stakes game.
  5. A crowd worthy of the occasion – At this final match of the ISL’s league stage, both sides are aware that a win is the only acceptable result for them. With so much riding on a single game, it’s only fair that it has an attendance that befits the occasion.
