“It will be a good opportunity to see how the team has improved” - Coach Iriondo on #BFCJFC

The last time Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC faced each other off, The Furnace witnessed some amazing acrobatic attacks from Farukh Choudhary, jaw-dropping saves from Subrata Paul and a goalless but thrilling draw by the 90’ minute. Times have changed since then and the team has been fighting to break its winless streak from the last 5 matches. Tomorrow night, Jamshedpur FC goes up against Bengaluru FC for the second time this season and they will be looking to change that trend.

In the pre-match press conference held in Bengaluru, Coach Antonio Iriondo talks about what lies ahead of #BFCJFC.

On Sergio Castel’s absence and how it’s affecting the team

We are playing well and creating opportunities, but we are still struggling to score. Sergio is an important player and a big absence in the team. But, he’s not ready to play yet. Hopefully, he will make a comeback in the next match. Piti and Noe Acosta have been injured too. Noe is healthy but Sergio and Piti are still out.

On facing Bengaluru FC at their home

I love to play against great teams. It will be a good opportunity to see how the team has improved in the last few days. I think we are improving. We have been unlucky with injuries, but we are looking for ways to balance it and tomorrow night’s match will be a good test to see how we are improving.

On the latest additions (David Grande, Gourav Mukhi, and Sandip Mandi) to the team

We were having problems with scoring goals. We saw a chance to sign Grande and took it as Sergio wasn’t recovering as fast as we hoped. Gourav was with the reserve team and has been training with the team. It’s always a good idea to have options, especially in the forward area. Hopefully, this will help.

Spanish midfielder, Aitor Monroy too was at the press conference and opined, “My aim is to get three points. Bengaluru FC is a good team with good players. We are here to win the game, we need the points and we will be aggressive.”
