“The last game was always going to be critical” – Walter Downes

It all boils down to the final match of the season. Jamshedpur FC host FC Goa in a must-win clash at The Furnace this Sunday and our Assistant Coach, Walter Downes aka Wally, is well aware of the challenge that lays ahead. “The last game was always going to be critical. We have to prepare for it like we prepare for every other game,” he said.

He continued, “We cannot go all-out and attack gung-ho. We’ve to come up with a pragmatic approach. And obviously, the prize is very big as it takes us to the play-offs!

“Everything we’ve done this season has brought us to this position. So, we’ll be going into it well prepared.”

Wally also spoke about the overall season with the new franchise and claimed it to be a very positive season, “It’s been a progressive journey for the football club. Everyone involved should be proud of what we’ve achieved.

“The team has gelled, especially recently. Since the turn of the year, we’ve been one of the best teams in the league. We want to put a great performance for the fans in the final few games. They have been our 12th man and they are the reason why we are so passionate about winning our matches.”
