“We need to keep fighting to move forward and we will do that.” - Valskis post #JFCKBFC

Jamshedpur FC striker, Nerka Valskis, talks about the team’s performance tonight, his individual performance in the season so far and more.

Here are the excerpts from the interview:

Thoughts on the results post #JFCKBFC

We are disappointed with the results. We awarded them (Kerala Blasters FC) with some easy opportunities to score and that cost us 3 points.

Thoughts on the result tonight even after scoring 2 goals

I did not score in the previous 3 games and I am aware of why I was not able to convert chances into goals in those matches. Plus, I did not get many chances to score as well. But, it is a new year with new challenges. It was a difficult time for me as I was away from my family for Christmas and I felt bad that I could not be with them, but now I am focused on the games ahead and back to scoring goals for the team. However, it is unfortunate that the goals did not help the team to win any points tonight.

On the team deserving more from the match

Yes, we did deserve more but we must congratulate Kerala Blasters on their win. They played really well and scored goals in the chances they got. We also had numerous chances to score with 3 of the attempts hitting the post and deflecting away. We could have gotten one point from the game but things like this happen in football. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, and tonight those attempts deflecting off the post cost us the 3 points.

On the long break being the reason for the team’s loss

Sometimes a break is beneficial for the team and sometimes it backfires. We had some injuries in the squad and they needed some time to recover. Of course we are disappointed with the loss. I feel we could have won the game but we gave the match away as we provided them with chances to score goals. However, congratulations to Kerala Blasters on the win.

On conceding 2 goals even after having an extra man advantage

It was a bad experience for us. The same situation happened when we played against SC East Bengal as they were also one man down and still we did not create any chance to convert them into goals and that caused some problems for us.

Thoughts on the performance so far in the season

Yeah, it has been good so far. I did not have many chances to score goals. I did not score in the last 3 matches and in those games I only got one or two attempts at goal. So, now I’ll be aiming to score more for the team in the upcoming games.

On being comfortable with the team’s current position in the standings.

Before the season commenced, I wanted the team to be in the top 4 position or at least somewhere near the top 4. But regardless of the position, we will keep fighting as a team. We have started to play much better in the defence and attack. Of course there were some mistakes made tonight but in football and in life, we win and we lose, and we need to keep fighting to move forward and that is what we will do.
