A five-star performance by the young lads to dominate FC Goa

After producing a draw against Chennaiyin FC with a last minute goal to share the points, Jamshedpur FC moved ahead in the league and later dominated FC Goa with a final score of 5-1 in their third-round of Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) match in Goa.

In the early kickoff at Nagaon Football Ground, the Red Miners were dominant, especially in the second half, outplaying a skilled Goa team and proving themselves to be lethal in the final third. In the opening minutes of the game, Lalruatmawia was fouled in the FC Goa area to which Phijam converted from the spot to give the game a thrilling start. A few minutes later, Sakir Ali dispossessed Danstan Randall off the ball deep inside Goa's half and struck a vicious strike past the keeper and into the far corner just minutes later which the FC Goa shot stopper could not even react to.

The Gaurs equalised three minutes later, with Kalegar scoring a half-volley after the ball dropped to him from a corner. However, their chances of pulling level, slowly faded away when Jamshedpur stepped up their game, shutting down spaces and physically outplaying FC Goa players off the ball. After the Gaurs’ goalkeeper fumbled the ball into his path from a Keisan Angelo pass, Lalruatmawia nodded the ball into the back of the net to further extend the lead.

Jamshedpur led 3-1 at halftime and continued to threaten the opposition in the second half of the game, scoring two more goals to seal the victory. First, Meitei came off the bench to stab home a pass from the edge of the box, with FC Goa’s man on the goal line allowing the ball to deflect off of him and into the net. In the final moments of the eventful fixture, Phijam Singh reappeared on the score sheet as he dinked past Hrithik in stoppage time, who couldn't keep his attempt out of the goal, allowing the fine midfielder to score the rebound into an empty net with ease, thus landing the final blow to the FC Goa side.

As a result of the dominant victory, the Men of Steel currently hold the greatest margin of win in the league's first season and also are currently placed 3rd on the league table with 7 points from 3 games played so far.
