The 51 years old former England U21 gaffer is all set to lead the team in the upcoming season. As he opined to continue the upward trajectory and make the club reach places in his first-ever press conference today at the JRD TATA Sports Complex.
A man with legacy in youth development
Hailing from Yorkshire, England, Adrian Neil Boothroyd aka Aidy comes up with the highest level of expertise and experience in managing clubs in the English top tier.
Apart from his club managerial career, Boothroyd played a significant role in England's developmental program. The Englishman was at the helm of the England U19, U20, and U21 teams starting in 2016.
Boothroyd made headlines for his instrumental role in producing excellent talents for the England National team like Ben Chillwell, Calum Hudson Odoi, and Harry Winks through the ranks of the English age group teams. Defining his more than five years tenure with The Three Lions Aidy once said, “The role was to win, but also to develop players for Gareth (Southgate)”
Thus Aidy Boothroyd perfectly matches JFC and TFA’s legacy with youth development. The new gaffer is also expected to make some crucial young additions to the squad. As he hinted his intent to build a versatile and resilient team to make a mark in the upcoming extended footballing season.
Winning momentum should be continued
Speaking on the same, Aidy stated that his main goal at Jamshedpur FC is to “continue the victorious momentum that the Men of Steel created in the previous seasons. And add more silverware to the club’s trophy cabinet”.
The Boss seemed quite ambitious on his first day in the town, “My philosophy is to get the best out of the players that I am coaching. Make them individually better.”
He further opined, “We need to generate even more connections with our fans at the Furnace and recruit top, top talents. Along with the best people for this club to drive this project to that level.”
Asia is the ultimate challenge
After crowned themselves as the ‘Champions of India’ winning the coveted League Shield last season Jamshedpur FC now has a chance to represent India in the AFC Champions League. This is going to be the Jamshedpur based ISL side’s first ever continental outing if they can win the ACL playoff set to be played against I-league champion from last season. Speaking on his continental ambitions with JFC Aidy said, “We want to take the club to the next level and compete really with the top teams in Asia. In order to do that we have to be able to evolve the team, and continue developing our players.
Fans are the real boost
With the fans expected to return to the Furnace during the upcoming Hero Indian Super League season, Boothroyd believes this will provide backing and enhance his process with the team.
Aidy ecstatically said, “The fans have been amongst the best in ISL since the club was established. I am excited with the prospect of our squad playing in front of the vociferous Red Miners”.
The Englishman is all geared up to set his first footsteps on the Furnace green rasp and is all set to lead the Men of Steel towards success amidst the thousands of energetic Jamshedpur FC fans.
