Jamshedpur FC have arrived in Kochi to take on Kerala Blasters FC tomorrow. Our head coach, Antonio Iriondo, accompanied by goalkeeping coach, Alfonso Lacasa, and forward, CK Vineeth, met with the local media ahead of the match.
In spite of having a couple of important players out on injury, Coach Antonio has faith in the squad that is available for the match. On being asked about Sergio Castel’s injury, the Spaniard confirmed, “Sergio (Castel) is injured and cannot play. In the end, we are playing with 11 players. Somebody will be replacing him. Maybe Sergio and Piti were important for the team, maybe if they were in the team , it would be different. We are missing them a bit now,” stated Iriondo.
Furthermore, the Jamshedpur FC head coach opined his views on Kerala Blasters’ recent form in the Indian Super League this season. “I don't know how it's (six match winless run) going to affect the team but Kerala are a good team. They have not been lucky in the first part of the season due to factors like injuries. They try to play football, they have a good style. In this kind of short leagues, you don't have too much time,” said Antonio.
Former Kerala Blasters FC player, CK Vineeth, was welcomed back to his hometown with open arms. On facing his former side in front of the fans that once chanted his name, the forward clarified Jamshedpur has become his new home. “It's (Kerala Blasters FC) not my home crowd anymore. Now my home crowd is Jamshedpur,” said a passionate CK Vineeth. “What matters is how we play as a team and I look forward to doing my best to contribute to my team,” he added further.
