Bengaluru FC thwarts Coppell’s army in Bhubaneswar

Bengaluru FC ended Jamshedpur FC’s four-match unbeaten run as the visitors scored two unanswered goals at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday. The game was dominated by the Men in Blue right from the start and 2 goals in the first half from Miku and their skipper Sunil Chhetri won them the game.

It was a crucial game nonetheless for Jamshedpur FC. But the result did not go as Coach Steve Coppell might have expected. Bengaluru FC avenged their loss faced earlier in the season to go further ahead in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 points table.

Bengaluru FC had plenty of chances in the first half. Miku was tripped inside the penalty box by Subrata Paul and they were awarded a penalty. Miku stepped up to take the penalty and put the ball in the back of the net in the 23rd minute.

The visitors earned a corner and Dimas Delgado found Chhetri at the end of it as he headed the ball into the top left corner of the net. Bengaluru FC doubled their lead in the 34th minute of the game.  

Coppell’s men came back stronger in the second half as they dominated the ball possession. Jamshedpur FC got as many as four chances inside the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the Men in Red failed to convert.

The last game against FC Goa will be crucial as Jamshedpur FC needs to win that game to stay afloat in the top-four race.
