Jamshedpur 1 (Javi Hernandez 81’) lost to Chennaiyin FC 5 (Pratik Chaudhary 6 OG, Irfan Yadwad 22, Connor Shields 24, Wilmar Jordan 54, Lukas Brambilla 71 )
Jamshedpur, November 4: Chennaiyin FC defeated Jamshedpur FC 5-1 in an Indian Super League match held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday. This marks Jamshedpur’s first home loss of the season, and with an 18-day international break ahead, the team has an opportunity to regroup before facing Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their next fixture.
The match saw an early setback for Jamshedpur FC as defender Pratik Chaudhary scored an own goal while attempting a clearance, giving Chennaiyin FC an early lead. Despite some promising runs from Sanan, who looked to create scoring opportunities, the home team struggled to find an equalizer.
Chennaiyin FC capitalized on Jamshedpur’s defensive lapses, with Irfan Yadwad and Connor Shields scoring back-to-back goals to establish a 3-0 lead before halftime. In the second half, Head Coach Khalid Jamil introduced local players Samir Murmu and Nikhil Barla in an effort to bolster the attack, but Chennaiyin’s Wilmar Jordan struck again with a powerful goal from the centre of the box, extending the visitors' lead to 4-0.
Chennaiyin FC added a fifth goal before Jamshedpur FC could mount any serious response. In the 81st minute, however, Jamshedpur finally found a breakthrough when the referee awarded a penalty following efforts from Sivierio, Hernandez, and Barla. Hernandez converted the spot-kick, scoring Jamshedpur’s lone goal of the match.
Jamshedpur FC will look to regroup during the international break as they prepare to face Mohun Bagan Super Giant in an away match on November 23rd.
