"Excited to play for a big club like Jamshedpur" – Sergio Castel

Jamshedpur FC completed the signing of Spanish forward Sergio Castel on loan from Atletico Madrid ‘B’ for the season 2019-20. The 24-year-old laid down his thoughts after making the move. A full transcript from his first interview below:

Thoughts on joining Jamshedpur FC…

It’s exciting to be part of this new project and come to a big club like Jamshedpur. It is one of the top clubs in India with a massive fan following.

On why he felt moving to Jamshedpur FC was the right move…

I was talking with my agent and Atletico de Madrid directors about this project and we concluded that it would be a good move to be playing in the top league of India and coming to this team which has a top coach and staff. The ISL is a competitive league and I look forward to the opportunity of playing in this beautiful city.

On his ambitions for the season…

I’m ready to score goals and help the team as much as I can, I’m training a lot so im fit to try to make a good start of the season and hopefully score more goals than last season with SS Reyes in lesser number of games. To be honest, I don’t know yet the level of the league as I will be able to best judge it when I train and play in India, but with Antonio and the type of players by my side, my ambition is to try to win every game and be on the finals to win it.

On Jamshedpur FC head coach, Antonio Iriondo…

Antonio Iriondo is a top coach, Atlético directors and my agent told me about him. He is very professional, and he likes to lead the game with the possession of the ball and make many chances to score. I had the opportunity last year to work with him in winter for an extremely short period of time, but now I have the opportunity to finally train and work with him for a full season.
