Farukh Choudhary has lately been buzzing around the media after paving the way for India’s victory in the latest international friendly played in Nepal.
The youngster scored the opening goal of the second friendly fixture which was also his first international goal for Team India, thus helping the Blue Tigers secure the win along with a goal from the skipper, Sunil Chettri.
The in-form striker recently was part of an interview for goal.com where he shared his experience playing as a forward for Jamshedpur FC and the Indian national team. Now, as the 2021-22 season of Hero Indian Super League draws closer, Farukh opens up about his personal targets and expectations from the newly developed squad and the club’s overall performance.
“To be honest, the main target has always been to qualify for the play-offs. As a team, we've been trying really hard from the very first season to achieve that goal as I have been in Jamshedpur FC since its inception. Every year we fall short of 2-3 points from achieving the qualification spots, but we have a strong squad this season and we have good options of players in all positions on the field, so I really cannot wait to get to work with them. I am looking forward to the season and I am positive for the upcoming season because of our new squad and our Gaffer, Owen Coyle, who is an amazing person. I hope we make a big impact this season and personally, I want to play every game of the season to contribute to the team’s success as much as possible with assists and goals. In fact, not just in the attacking duties but I would also like to contribute in the defensive side of the pitch because such small contributions make a big difference in the games. I want to make sure we qualify to the play-offs this season”, says an optimistic and motivated Farukh ahead of his ISL campaign.
With the momentum built after his international performance, the speedster is charged up for the upcoming SAFF Cup as well as his season with Jamshedpur FC.
