Jamshedpur FC Head of Grassroots, Mr. Kundan Chandra is delighted to kick-off the much-awaited tournament as he said, “We are glad to conduct this tournament. We launched our programme a year ago with the aim of not just training the kids but to also provide them with a competitive environement. This tournament will give the children an edge compared to others as they are being exposed to the laws of the game at an early age.
The participants have been divided as per age categories – U5, U8 and U11 and each age-group will follow round robin group stage cum knockout format. The round-robin group stage will take place on 3rd and 4th September followed by the knockout stage which will be conducted later.
A total of 86 teams will participate in the Jamshedpur FC Junior Champs – eight U5, twenty-two U8 and fifty-six U11. The tournament will see a total of 246 matches being conducted at the venue over two days as the teams battle out to qualify for the knockout stages.
The 23 grassroots coaches who have been training the participants regularly for the past few months at their respective schools will be the orchestrators of this tournament and are the point of contacts for the children participating alongwith their parents for all queries and coordination. Mr. Kundan Chandra conducted a workshop earlier today explaining the rules and regulations and all guidelines to be followed by the coaches and their respective teams.
These coaches will be provided with technical support during the tournament by 12 TSRDS coaches who will officiate the matches.
