“I took up this challenge to show more of what I can do.” - Daniel Chima in his first interview with the club

The Men of Steel are thrilled to have Daniel Chima Chukwu join the team for the remainder of Season 2021-22. Daniel, post his mandatory quarantine completion, will join the training sessions and cannot wait to bond with his new teammates.

In his first ever interview with the club, the Nigerian forward talks about his move to the club and more. Here are the excerpts:

On joining a Jamshedpur team fighting for the top spot in the ISL…

It feels great signing with Jamshedpur! It’s a morale booster because I was feeling a bit low, I must admit. It almost felt like nothing is working, and then a team from the top position showed interest in my service, so it was very uplifting.

I took up this challenge to show more of what I can do, I am highly committed about this. I know there was criticism and I respect everyone’s opinion. I also wanted my family to know that I haven’t let critics affect me.

On efforts that make for a good striker…

For me, a good striker is not someone who just scores goals. The player has to be a team player, has to be able to deal with pressure, has to be trusted by teammates and coaching staff, contribute to the team's success by working hard and assisting others when he’s yet to score.

On trophies with Molde and playing under the legendary Ole Gunnar Solksjaer…

Molde is home to me now and working under Ole Gunnar is a moment I will forever share with my kids and grandkids. It was such an amazing moment with so many good memories. He really took me in and helped me deliver what he wanted from me as a striker.

On his experience in India in terms of weather food and culture…

Initially, it was tough, with the weather and everything, because I started having certain skin reactions as well. But later, gradually I got adjusted to the weather. The food was much easier for me. I don’t really know much about the culture because I didn’t have time to explore and see how it works here (due to the pandemic situation we found ourselves in), but the prayer part I did get to see with my former teammates (SC East Bengal). They really took it very seriously and that’s amazing to see I feel.

On his aims with Jamshedpur FC...

The plan is to work hard and contribute the best I can for the team to meet the set targets for the season. We are very close to attaining our objectives and I want to contribute everything I have in me to take the club past the finishing line and get glory.

Message to the fans…

I’m so glad to have joined Jamshedpur FC. I’m grateful and thankful for all the good wishes from the fans, I read all the kind comments on social media. I will work hard to bring more glory and smiles to the team and supporters.
