“I want to help the team retain and win the shield again”, quips Jitendra Singh

Last season was historic for Jamshedpur FC. As they went on to win the coveted ISL League Winners' Shield for the first time since the club’s inception. Young defender Jitendra Singh in a recent interview with Khel Now, spoke about his experience last season, his expectations ahead, goals, and many more.

“It felt good to get that much game time and have the trust of the coach in the previous seasons. We eventually got success as a group with the playoffs and winning the Shield. The senior players immensely helped me to grow.” said Jitendra while speaking about his experience from last season.

Quizzed about the new inclusions in the team Jitendra opined, “The new players coming in are really professional. Wellington has played for Jamshedpur previously and he is well aware of what the team demands of him”. He further opined, “Other players have also played in the top leagues, so it won’t be that difficult. We just need to know each other and the rest would be fine.”

Under the guidance of former gaffer, Owen Coyle Jitu evolved and took control of the midfield as he started in the majority of the matches for the Men of Steel. Which further earned him an extension with Jamshedpur FC.

Sharing his goals for the season ahead Jitendra said, “I want to help the team retain and win the shield again. And also, take a step ahead and challenge for the Indian Super League trophy.”
