In My own Words: Aitor Monroy

Aitor Monroy has been truly magnificent in his first season with Jamshedpur FC. His impact and leadership skills were palpable throughout the entire season. He pens down his experience of playing for the club and staying in the city of Jamshedpur.

"For me to arrive in India, become a part of Jamshedpur, not just the football club but a part of this city itself was a life-changing opportunity.

There have been so many learnings - right from other cultures, people, countries... everything has been so different since I started playing for clubs.

As a footballer, a chance to represent Atlético Madrid (C and B division) was a good confidence booster for me. My spell with several other clubs between 2005 - 2019 gave me a chance to hone my skills as a midfielder. And now I am honoured to be a part of such a young, talented and diversified team like Jamshedpur FC. The city, the club, the country as a whole has given me so much to learn, to experience, to be thankful for. It has welcomed me with open arms.

I feel we have the best facility in the country, from our residence to our rooms, the staff helpers, cooks, security and staff maintaining the stadium. We have our own pitch for training, a gym, and a pool all in the same place. Now, this is something very rare to find in India.

To play in our stadium is an incomparable, unbelievable feeling. All the 20,000 people cheering for us constantly no matter what, for me, that's what makes a great atmosphere for football, in fact, that's what makes football great. The club is very well organized, ready to help us at all times, and that is something very important.

The Indian Super League is a very interesting platform and very well organized. I've enjoyed myself thoroughly and I hope for the next season, we can improve and be in a very good position. But for this, we will need to work hard and constantly fight for it and for that I am always ready.

I'm very happy here. Jamshedpur FC feels like home.
