
The state of Jharkhand is known for its encouragement and development in all genres of sports which has also resulted in the rise of multiple brilliant athletes. These sports persons have worked rigorously and achieved the top ranks on an international arena in their respective field of sports.
And today, Jharkhand has managed to bag another credible moment in their record as they have collaborated with the All India Football Federation and have announced that they will be hosting the training camp of India’s National Women Football Team ahead of their campaign in the AFC Women’s Cup India 2022. The team will be using Jamshedpur FC's facilities for training purposes.
The Jharkhand State Government stepped up to lend their support and cooperation to the All India Football Federation for the preparation of the Women’s National Football Team for the Asian Cup which is scheduled to kick-off on January 20 and close on February 6, 2022.
The Chief Executive Officer of Jamshedpur FC, Mr. Mukul Choudhari, was also pleased and optimistic after hearing this positive news. “It’s a massive year ahead for women’s football in India with the AFC Women’s Cup and FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup happening in 2022. We are glad and honoured to be able to host the women’s team in Jamshedpur for their training camp. Jharkhand has a rich sporting history and culture and we at Jamshedpur FC and Tata Steel are happy to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Jharkhand and the AIFF for the national team’s development with this camp”, said the Jamshedpur FC CEO.
The upcoming AFC Cup will be held in India itself. Apart from hosting the flagship continental championship (AFC Cup), India is also going to be the official host of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup which will be held next year in October thus making 2022 a memorable and beneficial year for the history and future of Women’s Football, and overall Indian football.
Women’s National Football Team’s Head Coach, Mr.Thomas Dennerby, is a well-experienced coach with 3 decades of coaching history in his arsenal; he will be training and pushing the team to its full potential in the camp in Jharkhand. Dennerby has previously led Sweden’s Women’s National Team to a 3rd-place finish in the FIFA World Cup held in 2011 as well as a quarter-final spot in the London Olympics 2012; he will be looking to achieve the best possible results with the Indian women squad.
The Gaffer, Mr.Thomas Dennerby, ahead of the training camp has shortlisted 30 footballers to be part of the camp which will commence from August 16, 2021.
