Interview: Michael Soosairaj

One of the players that impressed the most against Bengaluru FC was the debutant, Michael Soosairaj. The creative midfielder looked at his tantalizing best at times and proved to be an important outlet on the left in the 2 - 2 draw at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

After making his much-awaited debut for the club, Michael Soosairaj talked about a range of issues in an exclusive interview with the club website. Here are the excerpts...

On making his debut for Jamshedpur FC...

It means a lot to me and to all my close ones out there. Of course, every footballer has a similar feeling but to make my debut against Bengaluru FC was one to remember. I really thank God for making this happen!

On the transition from Chennai City FC to Jamshedpur FC...

It was really hard for me to adapt to a new place because Chennai City FC was my mother club. I became a recognized footballer because of that club. People at Jamshedpur FC are highly professional. I’m learning a lot and I keep adapting myself as a professional should do and I’m really happy here to be a part of Jamshedpur FC. The club management is awesome and they have treated all the players really well.

On the difference between Indian Super League and I-League...

To be honest, I don’t see any difference as both the leagues are best in their own way. In the Indian Super League, we learn more and more professionalism from foreign players while there are many top players in I-league so playing against or playing alongside them teaches one a lot.

On his relationship with Cesar Ferrando...

I have a good understanding with the coach. He is really motivating. I'm really happy that he gave me a chance to play against a big side and that too, in my debut game. The coach had trust in me. After the match, he really appreciated my play and he told where I should concentrate  and what I should do to improve. He's the best as he is calm and sharp.

On his targets for the season...

My target is to always perform well and my aim is to play for the Indian national team. I also want to make my friends and family happy while watching me play.
