Ishfaq Ahmed reflects on our performance against Pattaya United

Jamshepur FC slumped to their first defeat of their pre-season tour in the hands of Pattaya United on Wednesday. They went down 3-0 to the side, which looked dominant on the pitch right from the start of the game.

Jamshedpur FC played two games in a span of three days as they wanted to keep a tab on the fitness levels of the players ahead of the start of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2017. Prior to their fourth game of the tour, Jamshedpur FC had won three games in a row. So far it has been a productive tour and they would look to bounce back strongly in the remaining two matches of the pre-season.

Assistant Coach Ishfaq Ahmed was happy with the way the lads played against one of the top teams (Pattaya United) of the Thai Premier League on Wednesday.

On the defeat…

“We played well against a side which is one of the top sides in the Thai Premier League. We wanted to play with such sides. But to be fair with our boys, playing two matches in three days is always a tough job. We created a lot of chances but unfortunately we could not convert them into goals.”

On fitness levels and injuries…

“We needed to play this game to test the fitness levels of the players in our side. We are extremely happy with the fitness of the players. We do have a couple of niggles in the form of Memo and Anas but they are likely to be back in the next game.

On Pattaya United…

“They are a brilliant side. Pattaya United have quality players in their side and they showcased their prowess in the game today. Preparation is only getting better with every single game we are playing.”
