“ISL is a huge platform and I want to enjoy the game as much as I can” - Kima

Sairuat Kima will be a part of the defensive wall of Jamshedpur FC in the upcoming Indian Super League. He has all the qualities in him to become one of the key players in this side and he has taken up this challenge to prove his mettle.

The 19-year old central defender is here to showcase his prowess and is all set to brush shoulders with the elite of Indian Football. He might be young but his strength at the defensive half makes him a crucial addition to this Jamshedpur FC side.

On being one of the youngest players in the Jamshedpur FC squad…

It feels good to be a part of Jamshedpur FC. I can learn from many experienced players in the squad. They are helping me a lot. Even if I am the youngest, I take it as a challenge to improve n every aspect of my game.

On learnings from the pre-season…

I must take more responsibility to take care of myself. That is what the coaching staff wants you to do during pre-season. From maintaining my diet to going to sleep on time, every minute thing is important.

On his idols…

Manchester United is my favourite team and Nemanja Vidic is my all-time favourite defender.

On his journey of becoming a defender…

I used to play in the CDM position. But in the Liverpool training academy, the coach made me play in the defensive role and ever since then I have played in that role. The intensity was really high at the Liverpool Training Academy. They were really very strict and as a result I have got to learn so much from my stint at the academy.

On how he feels about making his debut experience in the ISL

My family is extremely happy and they want me to do well in my debut season. ISL is a huge platform and I want to enjoy the game as much as I can. I would also want to improve and learn from this experience.
