Jamshedpur, January 30: Jamshedpur FC defender Pratik Chaudhari is already looking ahead to the crucial top-three battle against FC Goa, calling it "a cracker of a game" as the Men of Steel return home for their next fixture. The experienced centre-back played a key role in Jamshedpur FC’s 2-1 victory over Punjab FC, scoring the opening goal and leading a resolute defensive display to secure all three points.
Pratik’s header from a Rei Tachikawa corner in the 41st minute set the tone for Jamshedpur’s win, as they maintained their composure against a determined Punjab side. "Scoring a goal for the team is always amazing. And scoring the goal to get the lead gives you an extra inch of confidence. We just wanted to keep our composure and make the best of the chances we got. And the chance came through the corner, and I am happy to do what I did," he said.
Despite Punjab FC pushing hard for an equalizer, Jamshedpur FC’s defensive unit stood firm, with Pratik emphasizing the team’s compact and disciplined approach. "We played as a compact unit, not playing too high or too low and trying to keep any dangerous balls away, knowing the kind of attackers Punjab had. We just stuck to the plan and got our basics right."
With the victory, Jamshedpur FC climbed to third place in the Indian Super League standings, setting up a crucial showdown against second-placed FC Goa at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on February 2. Pratik is confident about the team’s preparation and the advantage of playing at home. "Going forward, each and every game is very important for us. We are back to Jamshedpur and are already preparing for the next game like we usually do. Goa is just above us on the table, so it’ll definitely be a cracker of a game. We will work according to our plan and then go out and execute it on Sunday."
