Jamshedpur FC Dominate AIFF Academy to Continue Strong U-18 Elite League Run

Jamshedpur, December 21: Goals from Mars Ningthoujam and Lawmsangzuala helped Jamshedpur FC U-18 register a comfortable 2–0 victory over AIFF FIFA Talent Academy, Bhubaneswar, in an Elite Youth League match at the Flatelet Ground here on Saturday.

Jamshedpur began the contest on the front foot and dictated play from the opening whistle. Their early intent was evident when Thingbaijam Sachin Singh attempted an audacious lob over the advancing goalkeeper, only for an AIFF defender to clear the ball off the goal line.

The home side continued to enjoy long spells of possession and created multiple openings in the first half. Heeranganba Seram went close after winning the ball high up the pitch, but his effort drifted narrowly wide. Gopal Munda also threatened before the break, cutting inside the box and forcing a full-stretch save from the AIFF goalkeeper.

The pressure continued after the restart. Mars came close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by a sharp save, while Shagolsem Rashithoi Meetei’s long-range drive was punched away by the goalkeeper.

The breakthrough finally arrived when Gopal collected a throw-in, drove forward, and squared the ball neatly for Mars, who finished calmly to give Jamshedpur a deserved lead. AIFF attempted to respond, but JFC remained disciplined and organised at the back, limiting their opponents’ chances.

As the match moved into injury time, Jamshedpur sealed the result. Lawmsangzuala found space inside the box and made no mistake, adding a second goal to cap a strong all-round performance.

The win gives Jamshedpur FC U-18 their second victory of the campaign, along with a draw from three matches so far. They will next travel to Patna to face Alpha Sports Academy in an away fixture on December 28.
