Jamshedpur FC Dominate Mohammedan SC to Secure 2-0 Victory, Close Gap on FC Goa

Kolkata, February 20: Jamshedpur FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Mohammedan SC 2-0 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. With this victory, Jamshedpur FC completed a league double over Mohammedan SC and moved to 37 points from 21 matches, just two behind second-placed FC Goa, who have a game in hand.

Right from kickoff, Jamshedpur FC set the tone with relentless attacking intent. Imran Khan sparked the first move in the second minute, breaking down the flank and finding Jordan Murray outside the box, but the forward’s shot was blocked before it could test the goalkeeper. The breakthrough arrived just minutes later in the sixth minute when Imran once again played a decisive role. His pinpoint cross found Murray, whose header was initially blocked, but Javi Hernandez pounced on the rebound. Amid the scramble inside the box, Ritwik Das reacted quickest, finishing with a precise right-footed strike into the bottom left corner to give Jamshedpur FC an early lead in the first half.

The visitors resumed the second half with the same attacking intensity, as Javi Hernandez and Siverio combinedfor another quick move inside the Mohammedan SC penalty area, only for the home side’s defense to clear the danger.

Siverio came close again in the 52nd minute, rising high to meet Murray’s cross with a well-directed header toward the top right corner, but Mohammedan SC goalkeeper Padam Chettri pulled off a crucial save. However, Jamshedpur FC refused to let up, maintaining their attacking pressure in search of a second goal to put the game to bed. Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Imran Khan, who had been influential throughout the match, found Nikhil Barla in space on the right side of the box. Barla controlled the pass expertly before unleashing a powerful strike into the high center of the net, sealing all three points for Jamshedpur FC.

With this victory, Jamshedpur FC strengthened their playoff push and kept their sights firmly on the top spots in the league as they continue their charge towards the business end of the season. In their next match, Jamshedpur FC face Kerala Blasters in away match on March 1.
