Jamshedpur Football Club revealed their final squad of the season that will be playing in the Indian Super League in the 2019-20 season in a press meet at the Center For Excellence in CH Area, Jamshedpur.
The final squad of 25 players consists of nineteen Indians and six foreigners. The club made has bolstered the side that finished 5th in the 2018-19 Indian Super League (ISL) in pursuit of qualifying for the top-four and try to win the coveted ISL trophy. The club has made 11 new signings which included stellar signings like CK Vineeth, four experienced Spaniards and some fresh young Indian talent. The squad will also see the return of two players who went out on loan last season at Indian Arrows
To address the press at the team introduction were Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel & Jamshedpur FC Chairman, Chanakya Chaudhary; Jamshedpur FC CEO, Mukul Choudhari; Head Coach, Antonio Iriondo, Chief Aviation and Sports, Tata Steel, Ravi Radhakrishnan and Jamshedpur FC Technical Director, Julian Vilar Aragon Exposito.
Club Chairman Chanakya Chaudhary spoke about the club’s expectations in the upcoming season as he said, “Jamshedpur has a balanced team with a mix of experience and young exciting talent. We want to build on the performances of the past two seasons and our first objective is to qualify for the playoffs and then win the titles.”
He continued, “We have a well-experienced coach in Antonio and a set of fans who are the best in the country. I would appeal to them to come in large numbers from villages and towns across Jharkhand and support their own Jamshedpur FC like the past two seasons.”
The club’s seasoned and experienced Spanish Head Coach who has been leading pre-season proceedings for almost a month now spoke about what he wants to achieve. He said, “We have made a lot of improvements to the squad from last season. As I have said before, the main purpose I came here for is to try and get to the top position and get as many points and most of all to send a message that we play the kind of football people like to watch."
