Jamshedpur FC Reserves set to participate in the Durand Cup 2019

The Army on behalf of the Three Service Chiefs is all set to host the 129th Durand Cup Football Tournament, the third oldest football competition in the world from 02 August to 24 August 2019.

The prestigious Durand Cup kicks off after a gap of 2 years. Jamshedpur FC Reserves team will be participating in this competition for the first time.

16 Teams, 6 from ISL and 6 from I League and Four from the Defence Services will be competing in a League cum Knock Out format of consisting of 4 Groups of 4 Teams each.  Venues for the same will be Kolkata, Kalyani and Siliguri.

Kolkata venues will be Stadiums of East Bengal, Md Sporting and Mohun Bagan and YBK stadium. The prize money for the tournament is INR 40 lakhs for the winners, INR 20 lakhs for the runners up and INR 5 lakhs each for both the losing semifinalists.

Jamshedpur FC Reserves team head coach, Kundan Chandra added "The team will get better exposure as most of the ISL teams and I league clubs will be participating. The players will benefit immensely with the competition they will face and it will give them a good opportunity to understand their personal attributes in the game."

Chief Executive Officer, Mukul Choudhari added, "Durand Cup is one of the oldest club competitions, we are extremely happy that it kicks off after a gap and Jamshedpur FC Reserves team will be proud to participate in the competition. This will give us another chance to showcase our young talent and to measure their development against top teams in the country. We would like to wish the team the very best for the competition."

Jamshedpur Reserves team is currently participating in the Jamshedpur Sporting Association Premier Division Football league where they will face Babulal Soren Football Academy in the semifinals at 3 pm on the 9th July 2019 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
