Jamshedpur, July 13: Jamshedpur FC has added three experienced Indian players, Ashutosh Mehta, Manvir Singh, and Germanpreet Singh, to the squad for the upcoming Durand Cup. The signings bolster the team with proven quality and depth ahead of the Durand Cup matches at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Ashutosh Mehta, a seasoned full-back, continues with the club as an extension specifically for the Durand Cup. Known for his defensive solidity and experience, Ashutosh was part of the squad last season.
"I am eager to build on the progress we have made so far and push the team to even greater heights. I am excited for another season with Jamshedpur," Ashutosh said.
Manvir Singh returns to Jamshedpur FC after spending the latter half of last season with Mohammedan Sporting. A versatile forward, Manvir offers attacking options and knows the club setup well from his previous stint.
"Wearing these colors again means a lot. Let’s make it count. I am thrilled to sign for Jamshedpur FC, one of the top clubs in the country. I’m eager to make an impact and start a new chapter in my career. The support from the coaching staff has been incredible, and I truly believe the team can achieve great things in the league," he said.
Germanpreet Singh rejoins Jamshedpur FC after recovering from injury and completing rehabilitation. A composed central midfielder with plenty of ISL experience, Germanpreet was part of the squad through the 2023-24 season and is ready for competitive action again.
"I’m very happy to join the team. A new journey begins, and I’m proud to wear the jersey and be part of this family," Germanpreet said.
Head coach Khalid Jamil welcomed the additions and underlined the importance of the Durand Cup as an evaluation ground. "We will be keenly evaluating these players’ performances in the Durand Cup. It’s a good opportunity for them to get competitive minutes and show what they can bring to the team as we prepare for the season ahead," Khalid said.
The Durand Cup will see Jamshedpur FC play all their group stage matches at home, with the first game scheduled for 24 July against Tribhuvan Army FT. The additions of Ashutosh, Manvir, and Germanpreet strengthen the squad and add experience to a team looking to make a strong start to its season.
