Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur FC shares heartbreak after a 2-3 loss against Odisha FC in the first match of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. The Aidy Boothroyd-managed side went down in spite of an early lead as the visitors ensured a late comeback.
Jamshedpur FC started with a full blaze as Daniel Chima found the net for the Men of Steel as soon as 3’ min into the game. A powerful shot by Chima from the edge of the box was enough to beat the Odisha custodian.
With the first goal scored, the home side looked more rejuvenated as they kept on creating chances inside the box. Finally in the 10th minute, Boris Singh doubled the lead as he struck home a perfect cross in style.
Minutes later, Odisha got back to the game. Diego Mauricio opened their scoring in a counter-attacking display with a curling goal in the 17th minute.
Jamshedpur kept on dominating the rest part of the first half as they maintained the majority of the possession. The Men of Steel made sure the Odisha defenders were kept busy all throughout. As they maintained the 2-1 slender lead till halftime.
After the lemon break, both sides kept on looking for chances but lacked in the attacking third. Near the hour mark, the gaffer replaced Chima and Boris with Harry and Len respectively as Harry made his Hero ISL debut.
Though Jamshedpur maintained dominance all through the game, things turned south in the dying minutes. Issac found the net for Odisha FC in the 88’ marking the long-awaited equalizer for Odisha.
Thereafter, it was a sudden shock for the Jamshedpur FC defense as Odisha scored the winner in the final minutes of extra time. Diego Mauricio found the net for Odisha in the 90+3’ ensuring the comeback and full points to his side.
