Kalna (West Bengal), February 15: Jamshedpur FC U-17 sealed their place in the play-off round of the U-17 Elite League with a 2-0 victory over SKM Sports Foundation in an away fixture on Thursday. Second-half goals from Devjit Majumdar (56’) and Bikash Tudu ensured JFC’s progression, as they maintained their strong run in the competition.
Despite a goalless first half, Jamshedpur FC asserted their dominance in the second half, with Majumdar breaking the deadlock in the 56th minute. Tudu added the second goal later in the match, securing three crucial points for the side. With this win, JFC now sit in second place in Group K with 21 points from nine matches, just one point behind AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy, who lead with 22 points.
With only one match remaining in the group stage, Jamshedpur FC are assured of qualification regardless of the result in their final game against Inter Kashi. Third-placed United Sports Club, currently on 16 points with one game left, can no longer catch JFC in the standings. As per the tournament format, only the top two teams progress, with the group winners advancing directly to the final stage while the second-placed team enters a qualifying round to compete for a finalist spot.
Jamshedpur FC still have a chance to top the group if AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy drop points in their last match against Odisha FC, and JFC secure a win against Inter Kashi in their final group game. So far, JFC have won seven matches and lost twice.
