Jamshedpur, March 16: Jamshedpur FC’s U14 and U16 teams delivered impressive performances to secure convincing victories over Inter Kashi in their respective AIFF Youth League matches held in Jamshedpur on Sunday.
In the Junior League encounter, Jamshedpur FC U16 defeated Inter Kashi 3-1 in a closely fought contest. After a goalless first half, Charan broke the deadlock in the 66th minute to give Jamshedpur the lead. The hosts then gained further control of the match as Marshal doubled the advantage in the 83rd minute. Kishan Singh added the third goal deep into stoppage time (90+4’) to seal an important win, while Inter Kashi managed to pull one back.
With the result, the U16 side continue to lead the Group G standings with 16 points from six matches and are now on the brink of qualifying for the final round, with two fixtures still to be played in the zonal stage.
Earlier in the day, the U14 team produced a commanding display in the Sub Junior League, registering a resounding 10-0 victory over Inter Kashi. Kartik Marandi was the standout performer with four goals, while Karthikeyan scored a fine hat-trick. Shubham Behra and Ashraful Rahbar also found the net, along with an own goal, as Jamshedpur dominated proceedings throughout the match.
The emphatic win extends the U14 team’s unbeaten run in the competition, with the side now winning all five of their matches to remain firmly at the top of the Group G table. The result also takes them to the brink of qualification for the final round.
Jamshedpur FC U16 will next face Inter Kashi again in the return leg on March 18 at the Flatlets Ground as they aim to maintain their perfect record in the league.
