Jamshedpur, August 16: Jamshedpur FC is proud to announce that two of its standout performers, forward Manvir Singh and goalkeeper Albino Gomes, have been called up to the Indian National Team’s 35-member preparatory camp ahead of the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 being held at Bengaluru.
India, drafted into Group B of the CAFA Nations Cup, will travel to Hisor, Tajikistan, where they will face the hosts (August 29), IR Iran (September 1), and Afghanistan (September 4). The third-place match and the final will be played on September 8, in Hisor and Tashkent (Uzbekistan), respectively. Both the players will join the national camp after completing their Durand Cup 2025 engagements with Jamshedpur FC.
Manvir Singh’s call-up comes on the back of his inspiring comeback in JFC colours during the ongoing Durand Cup. The striker has been in lively form, leading the line with energy and determination. He had scored once, pressed relentlessly, and proved why Jamshedpur FC kept faith in him.
Albino Gomes, meanwhile, has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the country, with his exploits in the ISL and Super Cup catching the eye. He holds the league record for the most penalty saves, eight in total, four more than the next best shot-stopper.
Remarkably, Albino has saved 50% of all penalties faced in his ISL career, including a stellar four-penalty-save season last year. Among his most memorable moments have been denying Indian captain Sunil Chhetri from the spot twice, a rare feat against the league’s all-time leading scorer.
The Indian team, led by Head Coach Khalid Jamil, will enter camp with a diverse group of players drawn from across the footballing landscape.
