Jamshedpur sign Steven Dias as the Indian Assistant Coach

Jamshedpur Football Club has roped in former India international Steven Dias as the Indian Assistant Coach. Steven has an Asian Football Confederation A License Coaching certificate and will be closely working with Head Coach Antonio Iriondo and rest of the technical staff during the club’s Indian Super League 2019-20 campaign.

On signing the dotted line, Steven said, “I’m so glad to be part of a big club like Jamshedpur FC. The club is doing so much good work, right from the grassroots level to the senior team, in a very planned and organized manner. It’s a massive opportunity for me and I’m so excited to work with a coach like Antonio Iriondo, who has vast experience having managed so many clubs in his career.”

Jamshedpur FC CEO, Mukul Choudhari was delighted to have Steven on board and said, “We are pleased to have someone of Steven’s stature to be part of our technical staff. He will be a great asset to Antonio Iriondo. He knows what it takes to compete at the top of professional football in India and we feel his experience will now help guide our players both on and off the field.”

The former midfielder played for clubs like Air India, Mahindra United, Churchill Brothers, Mumbai Tigers, Rangdajied United, Delhi Dynamos, Bharat FC and Mumbai FC winning the National Football League in 2006, I-League in 2013 and IFA Shield in 2011.

Steven played 51 matches for the Indian national football team and was also a key member of their AFC Challenge Cup win in 2008. The win helped India qualify for the big occasion – the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, where again, Steven represented the country.

Steven will be joining the rest of the technical staff in September 2019 as the club begins its preparation for the upcoming ISL season.
